Middle School Tackle
The Hopkins Boosters Youth Football Program manages our Middle School Tackle teams, which compete in the LMAA Conference.
Important for families: Team counts must be finalized with the LMAA by August 1 each year. The number of teams is determined based on registrations at that time, so participation opportunities may become limited after the deadline.
6th Grade
Ages/Grade
Middle School football has teams at 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. Players in lower grades may be considered for moving up based on physical size and experience in previous football programs.
- 6th grade - 9 man
- 7th grade - 11 man
- 8th grade - 11 man
Equipment
The middle school program requires all participants to provide a $400 deposit for equipment rental for the year. The check will be returned at and of season with return of all equipment.
The following equipment is provided for use during the season through the registration fees.
- Helmet
- Shoulder Pads
- Pants & Pads
- Practice Jersey
- Game Jersey
Other equipment - Cleats, mouth guard, receiver gloves - are to be provided by the athlete.
When
Season begins in conjunction with the Varsity HS Season. Summer practices (before school starts) will start in middle of August and league play will conclude in mid-October (weekend before MEA).
Practices will start in mid-August and season concludes mid-October.
Team practices will held during the week and will change after school starts.
- Before School Starts - Practices will be held Mondays-Fridays
- After School Starts - Practices will typically be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Where
Practices are held at the Hopkins Varsity Athletic Complex on H11 (Water Tower Field) or Turf Practice Field.
Home games are held at the Varsity Stadium.
Away games may be played across the west metro region.
Games
Teams will play 8 games through the season and typically will fall on Saturdays or Wednesdays (nights).
7v7 @ Anoka (8 & 9)
Who: Non-linemen
Opponent: Anoka (+ additional schools TBD)
Grades 8–9: Play separate games
What: 7-on-7 (helmets only) Hopkins-issued tank required (included with registration)
Where: Anoka High School
When: 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, Bus departs Hopkins HS at 5:00 PM
Cost: $50
Registration: Add-on to team registration. Deadline: 6/1

Monday–Thursday: Weight Room (“Lifts”)
Grades 7–9: 8:00–9:15 AM (technique/teaching focus)

Welcome to the Middle School Tackle Football Registration. Please make sure your sign up includes the grades for the 2026-2027 School Year.
We are hosting 2 Middle School camps this summer on 5/30 and 7/24. These come free with early bird registration!
